Club 2000, DOUBLE HEADER Round 6 & 7, 5-6th September 2020

We were blessed with some early September sun for our Double Header weekend, and what a weekend it was with 4 lap records (5 if you count the fact that Alfie Campbell smashed the Minimax record on the Saturday then shaved off even more time on the Sunday!

Congratulations to September’s Lap Record Breakers: Honda – Joshua Smith: 45.97; Junior Rotax – Emily Jackson: 40.48; Minimax – Alfie Campbell: 41.66; Senior Rotax – Ben Maxim: 39.58.

HONDA

Another fantastic outing for Joshua Smith (15) as well as smashing the Honda lap record, he took 1st place in every heat and both finals proving he is a force to be reckoned with! Hayden Gray (16) was hot on his heels all weekend, taking 2nd in nearly all heats and both finals; Jenson Mason (58) worked hard to snatch it from him in Heat 1 on the Saturday. The battle for 3rd place on the Saturday was generally fought between Jenson Mason (58) and Luke Bate (9), while on the Sunday, Luke’s feisty adversary was Ollie Clark-Ward (4).

Most of the fighting for the other top positions was fought between Jenson Weston (34) and Elliot Reed-Hughes (95) but Matthew Copsey (97) was also spent some time in the leading pack.

Thomas Warner (17) drove like a dynamo all weekend to collect a full set of 1sts, Elliot Norton (75) would have managed a full hand of 2nds but for Charlie Gaillard (74) who claimed that position for himself in Heat 3 on the Sunday. SENIOR ROTAX 177

Robert Peachey (00) spent much of the weekend at the front of the field and having taken three 1sts including the Final on the Saturday and 1sts in all the Sunday heats one might have expected a double header win for the double zero driver. Apparently Novice Jay Ford (99) had other ideas and having had to resign himself to 2nds all day on Sunday came through to clinch the top spot in the Final of Round 7. The rest of the positions over the weekend were fairly mixed with James Price (33) (one 1st, two 2nds, one 3rd), Robert Reeve (15) (two 3rds, Jamie Allen (34) (one 2nd), Phil Patience (46) (one 2nd, one 3rd), Justin Clarke (48) (two 3rd s) and Dan Jones (11) (one 3rd) all placing in top three.

Ian Wells (173) started the day well with two wins in the heats but couldn’t maintain the pace dropping out of the top three in Heat 3 and then returning for a 3rd in the Final.

YOUNGSTARZ – Round 7 only

We welcomed Youngstarz to Club for the first time this weekend and the turnout was fantastic. Louis Robinson (5) and Scott Lawrence (7) did well to maintain top three positions all day with two 1sts, two 2nds, and one 1st, two 2nds and a 3rd respectively. Luke Power (3) was apparently not satisfied to stay in mid field where he’d spend most of the day and ‘power’ed through (Yes, I did just say that! It had to be done!) to take 1st in the Final.

1st Luke Power (3)

2nd Louis Robinson (5)
