Is RLK open every day/all year?

The circuit is open seven days a week throughout the year with the exception of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, 27th December & New Year's Day.

What times are you open?

The circuit opens at 9.30 am with first sessions starting at 10 am.  The circuit closes anytime between 5 pm and 9 pm depending on bookings.  We advise that customers check availability in advance.

Do you do evening sessions?

We are can host floodlit evening sessions for larger groups.  For individuals or small groups, we have the Second Tuesday Club.  Please check availability in advance.

Do you have floodlights?

Yes.  The entire track is floodlit.

Do we have to book ahead or can we just turn up?

It is advisable to book in advance to ensure that we have sufficient karts available and staffing for your session.

What should I wear?

Please wear comfortable clothes that may be worn under a race suit.  Footwear should be flat and enclosed, high heels, sandals, flip flops and crocs are not permitted.  Trainers are ideal.

Do you have an indoor circuit?

The RLK circuit is outdoors.

Do I need a driving licence?

No, you do not need a driving licence.  Every driver receives a full safety briefing and instruction on how to operate the karts.

Are there any age restrictions for karting at RLK?

We take karters from 8+ (or 7 with proven experience).  We have no upper age limit.  

Are there any upper height or weight limits for the adult karts?

No there are no official upper height or weight limits for the karts.  The seats are not adjustable so if you are very tall (over 6'2") or have a wider girth you may prefer to come and try a kart out for size to check that you can fit comfortably and use the steering wheel safely.

Are there any height or weight restrictions for the cadet karts?

Cadets - minimum 119cm tall (approx 3ft 11") - age 8+

GX200 - minimum 147cm tall (approx 4ft 10") - age 8+

GX270 - minimum 147cm tall (approx 4ft 10") - age 14+ 

Do you supply safety equipment?

Yes, we provide all the necessary safety equipment.

Can I use my own safety equipment?

Drivers may supply their own safety equipment but it must be approved by the Race Director. Helmets and any other equipment must be to the appropriate standard.  Helmets must be full face with a visor.   Race suits must cover the driver from neck to wrist to ankle and be of appropriate construction for racing.

RLK does not accept any liability for any loss of equipment or any injury resulting from the driver's own safety equipment.

 

Can we pay on arrival?

It is necessary to pay at the time of booking in order to secure your session.  

Are spectators allowed?

Yes, although children must be supervised at all times.  

Can we bring the dog?

No. Pets are not permitted on-site at any time.  Please do not bring pets to the circuit.  We do not permit animals to be left in cars on-site.

Do you have any two-seater karts?

No. We don't have any two-seater karts.  Our single seaters are suitable from age 8.

Do you have any twin-engine karts?

No. All our karts are single engine.

Do sessions still take place if it's raining?

Yes.  Sessions continue in all weathers.  The only time we stop a session is if we are experiencing severe fog, lightning or if the track is flooded or covered with deep snow.

We're trying to book a stag/hen party.  Can you hold a date while we gather our folks?

We can hold an event date for up to 48 hours while you get all your ducks in a row.

We'd like to do an event - how many people do we need?

The number of people you need depends on which circuit you want to use:

 

700m circuit:

Sprint, Mini GP: 8-15 drivers

Grand Prix: 18-30 drivers

Team endurance: 6-15 teams (2-6 drivers per team)

Full circuit:

Sprint, Mini GP: 10-20 drivers

Grand Prix: 20-40 drivers

Team endurance: 10-20 teams (2-6 drivers per team)

Can I drink alcohol before I arrive?

No.  Any person under the influence of alcohol or illicit substances will not be permitted to drive. 

 

Can I arrive late for a race event?

No.  All events commence with a mandatory safety briefing and practice laps.  If you miss the briefing you cannot race.  We do not refund race fees for late arrivals.

Is parking available?

Yes, there is plenty of free parking on site.

Can I test my kart during the week or weekend?

Yes, although subject to other bookings with our kart fleet.

Can I test my bike during the week or weekend?

We run a monthly mini-motos evening for two-wheelers.  Please call the office for other information.

Can I hire the circuit for promotional work?

Yes, with prior arrangement.

Can I land a helicopter?

Yes, with prior arrangement.
