What is an apprenticeship?

Apprenticeships are work-based which means you gain valuable skills and experience while earning a wage.

Employers make time available for your study, which will total a minimum of 20% off the job training.

It is an appealing route for many students because it begins with a job and gives you immediate work experience, which is valuable for future employment.

Apprentices have listed other reasons why they choose them over full-time college study:

  • You earn a wage from the start

  • Training is tailor-made to suit your role and direction

  • Gain essential workplace experience

  • Take giant steps up the career ladder

  • Improve your prospects
