Here's a few of our most frequently asked questions.

What days are you open?

We are open 7 days a week, every week of the year! The only exception is Christmas and New Year.

What times are you open?

The circuit opens at 09:30 am with the first sessions usually starting at 10:00.  The circuit closes anytime between 17:00 and 21:00 depending on bookings.  We advise that customers check availability in advance.

Do you have floodlights?

Yes! The entire track is floodlit.

Do we have to book ahead or can we just turn up?

It is advisable to book in advance to ensure that we have a sufficient amount of staff and karts available.

What should I wear?

Wear comfortable clothes that may be worn under a race suit.  Footwear must be enclosed. High heels, sandals, flip-flops and Crocs are not permitted.  Trainers are ideal but we wouldn't recommend any bulky shoes.

Do I need a driving licence?

No, you do not need a driving licence.  Every driver receives a full safety briefing and instructions on operating the karts. They're easy to operate and they're fully automatic. 

Are there any age restrictions for karting at RLK?

The minimum age is 8yrs for GX160 Cadets and for GX270s, our minimum age is 14yrs. There's no maximum age!

Is there a maximum weight or height?

There are no official weight or height limits.  However, if you weigh over 125kg or are taller than 6'4", you may be uncomfortable. If you're worried, you're welcome to test-fit our karts before booking.

Do you supply safety equipment?

Yes, we provide all the necessary safety equipment. This includes a helmet, race suit, gloves and a balaclava. 

Can I use my own safety equipment?

Drivers may supply their own safety equipment but the Race Director must approve it. Helmets and any other equipment must be to the appropriate standard.  Helmets must be full-face with a visor. Race suits must cover the driver from neck to wrist to ankle and be of proper construction for racing.

RLK does not accept any liability for any loss of equipment or any injury resulting from the driver's own safety equipment.

 

Can we pay on arrival?

It is necessary to pay at the time of booking in order to secure your session. We may make exceptions if the booking is on very short notice.

Are spectators allowed?

Yes, we have a balcony and a viewing area looking out onto the circuit. We also having live-timing displayed in the viewing area.

Can we bring the dog?

No. Pets are not permitted on-site at any time. This is due to their safety with regards to the live circuit. Please do not bring a dog and leave it in the car either!

Do you have any two-seater karts?

No, we do not have any two-seater karts. This is something we'd like to have in the future though!

Do you have any twin-engine karts?

No. All of our karts have a single engine. They're plenty powerful already!

Do sessions still take place if it's raining?

Yes.  Sessions continue in all weathers.  The only time we stop a session is if we are experiencing severe fog, lightning or if the track is flooded or covered with deep snow.

Can I drink alcohol before I arrive?

No. Any person under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be permitted to drive. 

 

Can I arrive late for a race event?

No. All events commence with a mandatory safety briefing. If you miss the briefing, you cannot race.  We do not refund race fees for late arrivals. 

Is parking available?

Yes, there is plenty of free parking on site.

Can I test my kart during the week or weekend?

Yes, see owner-driver testing.

Can I test my bike during the week or weekend?

Yes. We also run a monthly mini-motos evening for two-wheelers.  Please see mini motos.

Can I hire the circuit for other use?

Yes. We offer bespoke pricing for circuit hire. Whether you want to use the track for half a day or a weekend, you'll have to contact us.

Can I land a helicopter?

Yes, with prior arrangement.
